From 1.2kbps to a 32kbps fully routed IP Radio Network
As part of a district wide SCADA & Telemetry Upgrade, we designed and implemented four new UHF Radio Base Stations at strategic high sites already owned by the client. Detailed radio propagation studies were conducted to identify optimal sites.
With the IP network and redundant VPN backhaul (over 4G) designed by Cybersmart, this network allows for over the air configuration and online edits of SCADAPack RTUs and Rockwell Micrologix PLCs. Legacy DATRAN Q22 serial RTUs are also able to communicate seamlessly over the same channels, allowing for a staged upgrade of legacy equipment.
High capacity, redundant DC battery backed power supplies at the base stations proved their worth during Cylone Dovi, where two of the base stations were without mains power for over 48 hours.
